Solid review - solids (box, sphere, etc...), extrusion, solids, solid operations, slice, solid edit, align

Surfaces - rulesurf, edgesurf, revsurf, surftab1, surftab2

How can I make a surface between 2 lines in space? rulesurf The rulesurf command creates a new surface between two lines. The number of divisions is controlled by surftab1. Where you click is important. If you click on opposite ends of the two lines, you will get a crossed surface.
How can I make a surface between 4 lines in space? edgesurf

The edgesurf command creates a new surface by interpolating between four lines that act as the profile for the surface. The number of divisions is controlled by suftab1 and surftab2.

How can I make a surface revolving about an axis? revsurf The revsurf command creates a surface revolving a profile (a line, pline or spline) around an axis (a line). The first line picked is the profile and the second line picked is the axis. The third option is to specify the angle of rotation.
How can I change the number of divisions in a surface? surftab1, surftab2 Surftab1 changes the number of division in the u direction (typically the x-axis) and surftab2 changes the number of division in the v direction (typically the y-axis).

Making a topography - rulesurf, extrude.

How can I make a topography using surfaces? rulesurf Create the topo lines and move them to the appropriate height in the z direction. Then rulesurf between the lines.
How can I make a topography using solids? extrude Create the topo lines and extrude them to the height of the interval between the topo lines. Then move the extruded solids to the appropriate height.

Perspectives - 3dorbit, perspective, camera, dview, save view.

How can I make a perspective view? 3dorbit The easiest way is to use the 3dorbit command and set the projection to be perspective.
How can I change the camera lens in a perspective? 3dorbit > Zoom In 3dorbit mode, use the Zoom option to change the field of view.
How can I move closer to an object in perspective mode? 3dorbit > More > Adjust Distance In 3dorbit mode, use the Adjust Distance to move closer or farther away from the current point.
How can I pan around in perspective mode? 3dorbit > Pan In 3dorbit mode, use the Pan option to pan around.
How can I make a perspective if I know exactly where I want to take it? camera Use the camera command if you know the target point and camera point of your view. You will have to use 3dorbit and its options to fine tune the view.

Printing with layouts - paperspace, modelspace, mview, shade plot, current vp freeze, print to scale.

How do I make a view of my drawing in paperspace? mview Use the mview command to create a frame to view your drawing. The frame can be any shape: rectangular, polygonal, circular.
How do I erase the frame that makes the view? layers Put the frame on a different layer and turn that layer off.
How do I make the view draw using hidden line mode? properties In the properties menu of the mview frame, look for the shade plot option. Change the option to hidden.
How do I turn off certain layers in one view but not another? layers In the view that you want to change, open the layer manager. To turn off the layer in that view, freeze that layer using the Current VP Freeze column.
How do I print to at a specific scale?

properties

First make sure your drawing at a scale of 1:1 [File>Page Setup...]. Also make sure you are using the appropriate units in either inches or mm. Then check the properties of the frame you want to scale. Look for Standard scale and Custom scale and change them accordingly. Alternatively you can use zoom and set the scale using the nXP method.

External Reference - xref manager, copy & paste

How can I copy and paste a portion of another drawing into my current drawing?

Edit > Copy & Paste

The copyclip command will allow you to copy and paste portions of your drawing into another drawing. This will increase the file size of your drawing.
How can I reference another drawing? xref The Xref Manager allows you to reference another drawing without having to copy the entire drawing. The link is dynamic; any changes to the referenced drawing will be updated automatically. If not, you can use the reload option. Make sure you do not have any circular references (a reference that refers to itself).
How can I combine an xref with the current drawing? xref > insert or bind The insert and bind options inserts a xreferenced drawing into the current drawing. The difference between the two options is how the layers names are resolved. The insert option combines layers with the same name onto one layer. The bind option adds the name of the drawing in front of the layer.

Purge - purge

How can I get rid of unnecessary layers? purge The purge command is used to remove unused layers, linetypes, fonts, etc... It generally reduces the size your autocad file. Use this command before importing your file to 3ds MAX.
