3D Modeling Tutorial
prepared by:

version: 2003.10.10
Tutorial Demo #1
Create a window opening in a wall.
Method
#1
Draw temporary
guidelines to mark off location of the window along the bottom of the
wall.
Draw a rectangle
0.3x2.0 off to the side. Convert to plines if necessary.
Extrude the rectangle
1.5 with no tapering.
Move the rectangular
solid to line up with the temporary guildines.
Move the solid
up (in the z direction) 0.5.
Use the subtract
command to cut a hole in the wall.
Method
#2
Use the ucs 3point
method to change the ucs to be parallel with the wall. The first point
should be in the corner between the wall and the stairs. The second
point should be at the wall edge. The third point should be above the
first point.
Draw the outline
of the 2.0x1.5 window. Use guidelines to help locate the window on the
wall.
Change the outline
to plines if necessary.
Extrude the outline
1.0.
Move the solid
block into the wall. Do you need to change the ucs to move the block
into the wall?
Subtract the block
from the wall to cut out the hole.
Tutorial Demo #2
Draw a staircase
Method
#1
Draw the profile
of the staircase in plan view: tread = 0.3, riser = 0.1786. Use copy
multiple and pedit the whole thing together.
Extrude the stairs
0.9 with no tapering.
Move the staircase
into place by using the align command. The three points you should use
are the three points at the top of the stair that line up the the landing.
Method
#2
Draw the profile
of the staircase in plan view: tread = 0.3, riser = 0.1786. Use copy
multiple and pedit the whole thing together.
Extrude the stairs
0.9 with no tapering.
Move the staircase
into place by changing the ucs.
Change the ucs
using 3points to be perpendicular to the bottom of the staircase.
Use the rotate
command and rotate the staircase upright.
Use the move command
and move the staircase into place by using object snaps to snap the
top corner of the staircase to match the corresponding corner on the
landing.
