Villa Stein
visualization design Sasha Satter
Villa Stein by Le Corbusier is located in Garches, an elegant Parisian suburb. The design for this house tries to present a classical character, with a multiplicity of industrial and machine-age overtones. The materials used are mostly white surfaces and large glass panels, presenting a more industrial than domestic image. The two facades are organized by complex proportional rules, with the `pilotis' standing behind the screens of the outer surfaces. Formal unity is accomplished using diagonal regulating lines represented in the railings, and the rhythm of the vertical supports.
