Case Study and Camera Movement Experiment
Work by: Kyoung Eun Kwon
Site by: T. Nagakura
Original creation: 2002 @ MIT
This project experiments use of camera movement as means to reveal architectural designs concepts. A number of notable shots are extracted from the works of well-known film makers, and the camera movement of each shot was illustrated on the plan of the filmset. Then, a 3D model of Peter Esisenman's House X project (1975) was prepared, and a spatial condition simular to each filmset was identified in his building. The set of final animations produced is an attempt to recast the camera movements the directors made in their original films, and to capture the experiences in House X through cinematic convention.
